Brian and the team are delighted to be featuring the delectable 'Timorous Beastie' Whisky this January thanks to our good friends at Douglas Laing & Co.
Made entirely of Highland whiskies, the Blend includes malts from distilleries such as Dalmore, Glen Garioch, Glengoyne and Blair Atholl. Its name derived from the poem 'To a Mouse' where author Robert Burns portrays a timid and hapless little 'Beastie'. Rest assured, this delicious dram bears no correlation to this description of the immortalised character.
Established in 1948, Douglas Laing is a wholly independent, family-owned Scotch Whisky business; now in its third generation. Over 70 years they've refined their craft to deliver Whisky that is not only consistent but also exceptional.
Never adding or taking anything from their products results in authentic flavour profiles that showcase qualities as intended by the distiller. This philosophy enables whisky lovers from around the world to enjoy outstanding whiskies as though the dram was poured straight from the cask.
Proudly bottled at 46.8% ABV, Timorous Beastie is made without colouring or chill-filtration. The outcome? A big, full-bodied and mouth-coating character that is truly moreish…
Nose: Acacia honey, creamy boiled sweeties (the strawberry flavour), dried apricots and white grapes. There's a good whack of Sherry influence in here too! A whiff of coastal air and classic Highland heather, too.
Palate: Dried fruits, green apples and anise. Sweet grist and malt loaf. Pebble beaches and more heather on the mid palate.
Finish: Long. Drying with hot cinnamon sweeties and fresh bread.
Overall: Who are you calling timorous? This beastie is big, brave and an absolute blast!
Brian and the team hope they can welcome you soon to share in this delectable whisky...here's our current A La Carte menu for those needing further persuasion! Cheers!
