Brian and the team are delighted to be working with the good people at Loch Lomond Whiskies this month, and look forward to offering our guests the quality Loch Lomond 12 year old as our single malt whisky of the month.
The Loch Lomond area has a rich and long lived history of whisky production that can be traced back to 1814 when the first recorded whisky distillery was founded in the quaint town of Tarbet.
The Loch Lomond Distillery was founded in 1964 with production starting in 1966. It is based in Alexandria, just south of the picturesque Loch Lomond.
The unique distillery produces a broad range of different whiskies, single malt as well as single grain or blends – it is one of the few distilleries to boast their very own cooperage.
Loch Lomond Whisky is distilled in a mix of traditional pot stills and straight neck stills. Most whisky created here are soft and sweet, fruity and highlight just a slight breeze of smoke – typical attributes of Highland malts.
Carefully matured in the finest oak casks for the perfect balance of flavour and aroma. This particular expression was drawn from a selection of three cask types - bourbon casks, refill casks and recharged casks. Non-chill filtering allows this whisky is able to display its natural characteristic’s.
Here's the Distiller's Notes on what to expect from this quality Malt Whisky:
Nose Crisp green apple, ripe pear and refreshing citrus lemon with background notes of golden cereal.
Taste Orchard fruits and lemon meringue. The deep fruity character of pear lead into citrus lemon, vanilla meringue and light biscuit sweetness.
Finish Medium length with gentle wood smoke and a lingering peaty tang.
Brian and the team hope that you will join us soon so we can let you experience this quality single malt whisky on us!
