A couple of my favourite wines to go with todays meal;
Domaine Bonnard Sancerre Blanc, Loire Valley, France
Domaine Bonnard is a family vineyard of 13 hectares of prime vineyards in the heart of Sancerre. The Domaine has been producing wine for more than half a century and the founders of the domaine, Bernard and Pierrette Bonnard, still work on the estate with their two daughters, Martine who is responsible for the viticulture and Claire, the winemaker. This is a fresh and vivacious Sancerre, with lots of zesty fruit, good acidity and a long finish. It has an excellent balance between weight of fruit and
Francesca Bay Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand
This classic New Zealand Pinot Noir is grown on selected Marlborough vineyards and is carefully and selectively harvested by hand. Aged in oak casks, this fine wine has a vibrant colour and a complex abundance of strawberry, cherry and dark berry fruit. Nice and easy drinking on its own but perfect for Lockdown Chicken.

Guy Saget Pouilly Fume, Loire, France
The Saget family has been growing Sauvignon Blanc in the heart of the village of Pouilly-sur-Loire for nine generations. Down the years, the family’s finest vineyards have been gathered together, favouring the purest expression of Pouilly-Fumé. Domaine Saget now covers 10 hectares and embraces prestigious localities such as Les Vaurigny and Les Roches. The wine is nicely aromatic, with medium-bodied green fruits, citrus acidity and a refreshing dry finish.
Wittmann 100 Hills Organic Pinot Blanc
Rheinhessen, Germany – Since 1663, the Wittmanns have been wine farmers in the town of Westhofen, in the southern part of the Rheinhessen appellation. The vines have been certified organic since 1990 and biodynamically since 2004. Philipp Wittmann aim to pick grapes that are ripe and aromatically intense. In the vineyards he uses no herbicides, no fungicides and no chemical fertilizers. With the biodynamic approach, Wittmann aims for natural balance in his vineyards. This is an amazing, creamy-fresh wine with an animating acidity and a fine minerality. Elegant with an invigorating freshness of ripe fruit and texture from extended lees ageing, it is a classic and distinctive dry Pinot Blanc.
Foppiano Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, California, USA
Located just south of Healdsburg, Foppiano Vineyards sits on 160 acres in the acclaimed Russian River Valley. Cool morning fog and warm summer days create ideal microclimates for grape growing. The Foppiano family has been producing world class fruit on this land since 1896. This wine showcases a blend of both the lush tropical style, and a bright citrus character. The results are aromas of lemongrass, sliced nectarine and orange blossom. Notes of grapefruit, tangerine and apricot on the palate with a crisp dry finish. Slightly chilled on a warm day is the perfect paring for this wine.
P. de Marcilly Freres Beaujolais, Burgundy, France
An old family of negociant in Burgundy, Marcilly is now owned by Boisset, a leading French owner of wineries. Made from the Gamay grape variety, this dry and fruity wine is light and delicate and is a great partner to pate and charcuterie; one of the best wines to enjoy with a scotch egg or pork pie! In France it is often served lightly chilled, and is a popular choice for an al fresco meal or BBQ.
Foppiano Lot 96 Petite Sirah, Russian River Valley, California, USA
Located just south of Healdsburg, Foppiano Vineyards sits on 160 acres in the acclaimed Russian River Valley. Cool morning fog and warm summer days create ideal microclimates for grape growing. The Foppiano family has been producing world class fruit on this land since 1896. Dried blackberry, sweet cinnamon, coco powder and a hint of sage show in the aromas. This wine progresses over the palate with dark espresso, raspberry jam, dark chocolate covered blueberries and finishing with perfectly integrated oak spice.
McHenry Hohnen Amigos Red, Shiraz/Grenache/Mataro, Margaret River, Australia
McHenry Hohnen Vintners was founded in 2004 as a venture between pioneer Margaret River winemaker David Hohnen and his brother-in-law and vine-grower, Murray McHenry. All the grapes are sourced from family owned vineyards in the southern part of the Margaret River region. Viticultural practices embrace old-school holistic farming philosophies and biodynamic practices which cultivate an environment where the soil and its organisms, along with plants, insects and animals, co-exist in a thriving equilibrium. This classic southern Rhone blend bursts with aromas of blood orange and fresh raspberry, over notes of fragrant black pepper. The palate is both savoury and primary with aromas of dark forest fruit. Pepper and wild thyme persist on the finish.
