Stirling Gin was created by Cameron & June McCann in a little 2l Copper pot still they lovingly called 'Jinty'. Their first large scale commercial run took place on 30th October 2015 and their outstanding business has moved from strength to strength ever since. Recently awarded the Best Start up Business at the Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce awards and were deserving finalists for 3 categories in the recent Scottish Gin Awards.
Stirling Fin features a botanical base of Juniper, Angelica, orange & lemon. Two more unique botanicals of dried basil & hand-picked Stirlingshire Nettle. Orange is favoured on the citrus side of this gin, giving a little sweeter quality for a more sippable gin. All botanicals except the Nettles are placed in the still with no maceration period in the base spirit. The handpicked Nettles are all Vapour-Infused in Gin Baskets to maintain a fresh, clean flavour from the Nettles.
Nose: Fresh, green & clean, with subtle undertones of herbaceous notes and Juniper.
Palate: Initial warmth from the heat of the Nettles, with herbal depth increasing in intensity and a consistent subtlety of Juniper.
Finish: A long, slightly oily finish with a lingering citrus sweetness from the Orange oils.
Exciting times are ahead for this remarkable gin and business. Stirling Gin is returning home to a custom designed distillery in the historic centre of ‘Scotland’s Heart’, under the majestic shadow of Stirling Castle.
The hand-picked nettles that make this gin unique grow wild within the parkland which was once hunted by the Royal House of Stewart, who ruled Scotland in medieval times from their base at the iconic castle high above the old town’s walls.
By 2018 they will be offering Distillery tours, allowing guests to see how this tasty liquid is created first hand.
