We're really looking forward to April's Gin Experience and lunch at Le Chardon d'Or. This month we welcome Tim from Marussia Beveridges. One of his featured gins is the outstanding Aviation Gin. Every Gin has it's story, particularly Aviation...
In summer, 2005 in West Seattle, bartender Ryan Magarian was handed a complex summer botanical infusion by a friend from Portland, Oregon. Finding it unlike anything he had ever tasted, he quickly saught out its maker, Portland’s House Spirits Distillery.
Recognizing a common interest in spirit, cocktail, and food interactions, the distillers at House Spirits shared with Ryan their idea for a renegade regional gin style. In June of 2006—after nearly 30 rounds of trials—Aviation Gin took wing.
House Spirits Distillery partnership with internationally-acclaimed mixologist Ryan Magarian, marked the first distiller-and-mixologist collaboration in American history. Aviation American Gin is the pioneer of a new, more balanced expression of gin that brings together exotic spices from around the world including cardamom, coriander, anise seed, dried sweet orange peel, lavender, Indian sarsaparilla and juniper. The masterful blend of citrus, floral and savory notes makes this small-batch spirit extremely mixable, and outstanding in contemporary culinary cocktails or vintage drinks alike. It’s crafted from all-natural ingredients including naturally gluten-free, American grain spirit. Aviation American Gin is the highest rated gin in the world by Wine Enthusiast (97 points).
