Brian and the team at Le Chardon d'Or are delighted to be showing off this delectable Gin throughout the month of November.
Inspired by the story of Captain Dudley Bradstreet who (according to the tale) sold gin in London in the 18th century when it had been prohibited.
Bradstreet hung a black cat sign over his window to let people know that by knocking three times, gin would be dispensed once money was placed in the cat’s mouth.
It’s because of this that the words “Knock once. Knock twice. Knock thrice” are embossed on the Wildcat Gin bottle.
In his own words; “This scheme of puss was a great success, netting me considerable fortune.”
The gin is made with 10 botanicals altogether, including liquorice root, coriander, angelica root and juniper. But it's the infusion of the South American vine 'Cat's Claw' that brings the story to theme - along with a delightful cirtrus highlight. This citrus 'whisper' is brought forward with the main juniper ingredient which adds spice and depth to this Classic London Dry recipe.
