Har and Sophie Eradus emigrated from Holland to New Zealand in the early '80s and settled in the Marlborough wine region. Today there are twelve hectares of mainly Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vineyards, the most impressive of which are planted on undulating, stony terraces along the Awatere river valley. Closer to the ocean than much of the Marlborough wine region, the Awatere’s warm days, cool nights and dry, sunny climate are key to the luminous flavour intensity, elegant minerality and fresh acidities of Eradus’ distinctive wines. The Eradus estate is now run by son Michiel, whose affable, easy-going demeanour belies a fierce perfectionist focused on pushing every boundary in pursuit of quality and balance, the Eradus mantra.
On the 24th of May this year we are lucky enough to have Michiel Eradus here in Glasgow to host this exclusive tasting and dinner
Michiel will explain the history and philosophy behind this fantastic range of New Zealand wines as they are served alongside Brians specially matched menu.
This is a wonderful opportunity to taste a range of multi award winning wines from this boutique family winery, whilst learning all about New Zealand winemaking from the man himself.
“Great grapes should make great wine and therefore our vineyard is where we do much of our winemaking. Our vines are located in the Awatere Valley, a Marlborough sub region with its own extreme microclimate. The wines from this region can be described as having a lovely mineral backbone, fresh clean crisp and zingy acidity. These characters, when combined with riper fruit elements, have the potential to make fantastic wines. Our winemaking and viticulture philosophy is based around the concept of "balance", and when this is achieved the result speaks for itself.” Michiel Eradus
This promises to be a very special evening and we do hope that you can join us.
The evening will begin at 7.00pm and will include a four course meal and a tasting of the full range of Eradus wines guided by the winemaker himself followed by tea, coffee and handmade chocolates.
Places at the dinner will be £65.00 per person.
